He was born an identical-twin in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India, and raised in Delhi, India, along with Rajiv Lakshman
The brothers did their schooling in Delhi from D.T.E.A, R.K. Puram. They later attended the University of Delhi in Delhi.
In the first year, both were students of the university's Deshbandhu College, but in the second year, they joined its Sri Venkateswara College. They did not sit for the third year at all, and both brothers dropped out of the college.
Ram is married to Sugandha Garg who appeared as Shaleeni in the Hindi-language film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008).
Ram started at MTV India supervising shows including MTV Love Line with Malaika Arora Khan and Cyrus Broacha, video jockeys (VJ)s, and also lead MTV Select and the first few seasons of MTV Super Select with VJ Nikhil Chinapa.
MTV Roadies was accepted as an experimental project by MTV in 2000. The show was tentatively entitled MTV: Find The Road, and was initially met with skepticism by the senior producers of the channel. The series débuted in 2003 and as of January 2010
the series still continues, with the eight season beginning in November 2011.Ram has continuously been in controversies about his style of words. Because of his style of words, he is popularly known as the 'Rudest Man On '.
He is known for his crude remarks and sharp observation tactics. Also well known to be ruthless and impatient with the contestants when he takes the auditions.
the show now has numerous sponsors and co-sponsors including Airtel, Wrangler Helmets, Mountain Dew, Red Fm, etc.
Raghu's on-screen behavior attracts strong reactions from viewers. He is most known for his frequent outbursts, harsh language and scathing criticism directed at participants of the shows he judges. While some people think his attitude is unfair, some also appreciate him for being impartial and fair.
Rannvijay was one of the winners of first season of roadies, who currently works as a VJ at MTV. The second winner was Ayushman, who currently hosts a show called Wassup MTV, along with Bani J, who was a runner up of the fourth season. The third season winner was Parul, and Anthony won the fourth season. The fifth season was won by Ashutosh.
"I was very tired and felt completely burnt out. You know the telly world can really take a toll on you. I wanted to get away from routine. After I decided to quit my job, travelling was one thing that I indulged in."
I spent two and a half months being in a forest up in the Himalayas, where there for no electricity and I even had to prepare food for myself," he says, explaining his reasons for a hiatus. He further says, "For me it is very important to take breaks as my mind just needs it after a while."
