Prabhu Deva Indian Michael Jackson

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

Prabhu Deva is a two time National Film Award-winning Indian dancer, choreographer, actor and film director. He has been called "India's Michael Jackson" for his fast-paced dance movements, though he has given performances in a wide range of dancing styles.
Prabhu Deva was born in Mysore, Karnataka and grew up in Alwarpet, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Prabhu Deva was born on 3rd April 1973.
He was inspired by his father, Mugur Sundar (known as Sundaram Master), who was a dance master for popular South Indian movies. He took dancing as his career and passion, learning Indian dance forms such as Bharatanatyam as well as Western dance styles. His brothers Raju Sundaram and Nagendra Prasad are also established South Indian choreographers. From choreography he went on to establish himself as an actor. His dance steps helped him become a star in Kollywood (the Tamil film industry). His first movie as a dance director was Vetri Vizha. He has since choreographed over 100 movies. Before starting as a full-time actor, he appeared as a background dancer for a song in the Tamil film Agni Natchathiram.
His first role as a hero was in Indhu (1994) with actress Roja. Deva's success resulted largely from his dancing. In 1999, Deva, Shobhana and A. R. Rahman performed with a Tamil cinema dancing troupe at the "Michael Jackson and Friends" concert in Munich, Germany. He has a significant fan following in the Tamil, Telugu and Kannada film industries. He acted alongside his brothers in the movie 123. As of 2010, he serves as chairman and director of a dance academy in Singapore named Prabhudeva's Dance Academy.
Deva was married to Ramlath and had three children: Vishal, Aditya and Rishi. His eldest son Vishal passed away due to cancer at the age of 14 in late 2008. Deva is getting ready for a second marriage with actress Nayantara.

Steps in entertainment industry

On 18 August 2007, a music video for the song "Kalluri Vaanil" from the Indian-Tamil movie Pennin Manathai Thottu was uploaded to YouTube by Mike Sutton (Youtube user Buffalax). The video was created as a soramimi, edited to include incorrect English subtitles that phonetically approximate the original Tamil lyrics. The name Benny Lava comes from Sutton's homophonic translation of the Tamil lead line "Kalluri vaanil kaayndha nilaavo?" as "My loony bun is fine, Benny Lava!" (original meaning: "The moon (metaphor for 'babe') that scorched the college campus"). The video led other YouTube users to refer to Prabhu Deva as "Benny Lava".

Career As A Choreographer & Actorà Prabhu Deva started his career in films as a choreographer. He made his debut as a dance director in "Vetri Vizha" (1987). The same year, he was offered a small role in "Agninatchatram". Before starting as a full fledged actor, he made guest appearances in song sequences, most of which were choreographed by him only.

Prabhu Deva was widely noticed for his fast dance steps, choreographed by him, in the super hit movie "Gentleman" (1992). Thereafter, offers for both acting and choreography started pouring in. He acted as a hero for the first time in "Kadhalan" (1994). Apart from Kollywood (Tamil film industry), Prabhu Deva's talent in acting and dancing was widely recognized in the neighboring Telugu and Kannada film industry as well.
Being A Director
After establishing himself as one of the promising actors and a leading choreographer, Prabhu Deva went on to direct films. His first directorial venture was a Telugu film named "Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana", released in 2005. The film scored well at the box office. In the following year, he directed another Telugu film - "Pournami". "Shankardada Zindabad" (Telugu) and "Pokkiri" (Tamil) were amongst the blockbusters of 2007, directed by Prabhu Deva.

Just watched Urumi...
I can’t really express any emotions right now because I am bowled over. That film was brilliant. Who knew Genelia D’Souza could be so kick-ass? Holy shiznit it was intense. And beautiful. And just amazing. And if Prithviraj came into my room right now in the look from that film I don’t know whether I would be able to control myself.

Marriage ending Actor Prabhu Deva has entered into a highvalue divorce settlement with his wife of 15 years, R a m l at h alias Latha, and has agreed to give herthree residential properties, two cars and Rs 10 lakh in alimony. In return, Latha has agreed to relinquish all her rights and claims over the actor and his other properties, and has agreed to withdraw all the cases she had filed against him.

A joint affidavit, signed by the couple, was submitted in the additional family court on Tuesday, when they appeared together and remained with the presiding officer Pandurangan for a while.
This settlement, which will be formalised by a court decree after six months, has brought an end to a rather complicated court battle involving film stars.
It all started when Latha filed a petition in the family court seeking restitution of conjugal rights with her husband Prabhu Deva. She alleged the actor had a relationship with another actor and that he was neglecting his family and did not provide even the minimum financial assistance to family members.

In a second petition, Latha wanted the court to restrain Prabhu Deva and actor Nayantara from giving joint interviews to any magazine, and to restrain them from formalising their marriage.

Prabhu Deva and his wife Ramlath's argument seem to be unending. It is known that Prabhu Deva has reportedly stated that his marriage with Ramlath was not valid as it is not registered. Later Ramlath has submitted few documents of ration card and voter id to her lawyer. However, the lawyer stated that there are few chances that these documents might be proved fake.

Ramlath who got disgusted with all these issues attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills. She was however saved by her relatives and neighbors. As predicted, the suicide note had both the names of Prabhu Deva and Nayantara who are responsible for her present situation.
